Preventing Disease Transmission is a course which teaches participants how to protect themselves while helping others. The class covers modes of transmission of bloodborne pathogens. Tasks that may involve exposure to infectious materials are discussed as well as the appropriate engineering controls, work practices and personal protective equipment. Vaccine efficacy, safety and administration are presented as well as procedures to follow if an exposure incident occurs. Signs and labels required by OSHA will also be discussed. This class would be helpful to healthcare providers, daycare providers, teachers, sanitation workers, construction workers, industrial workers and people in the restaurant business. The course is approximately 2 hours in length.
