News & Information Branch Office in Grants PassThe Grants Pass Branch office of the Southern Oregon Chapter is located at 745 NE 7th Street in Grants Pass; the office hours are Tuesday through Friday, from 10:00a.m. In 1990, the American Red Cross chapters in Josephine and Jackson counties merged. Services for both counties are administered through the Chapter headquarters in Medford. Manned by a dedicated all-volunteer staff, the Grants Pass office accepts donations and payment for classes, host Health and Safety classes, and conduct disaster education courses. Health and Safety courses offered in Grants Pass include Community CPR, Adult CPR with A.E.D. (Automated External Defibrillator), First Aid, and CPR Review. For information on these classes, contact the Medford office at 541-779-3773. American Red Cross Lifeguard Training courses and Babysitting courses are offered at the Grants Pass YMCA; contact the YMCA at 541-474-0001 for information on Lifeguard and Babysitting classes. Disaster education courses train volunteers to provide damage assessment, staff shelters and provide family casework assistance in the event of a large disaster such as an earthquake, flood or fire. The Red Cross will also use these volunteers on Disaster Action Teams to assist families who lose their homes in single-family fires.
